I came across Polyvore while I was browsing for a dress for the coming annual dinner. Polyvore is a ever-growing user-generated data base of fashion outfits from a range of high street and designer pieces that you can upload, mix and match. You can then save and tag your outfits, share it with friends and even purchase it! The interface allows you to re-size items and layer them, creating your own unique ‘looks’ that you can save as sets. The items are poached from other sites, but each one is carefully labeled, and the source identified.

I've created this party look and I definitely would like to have it in my wardrobe!

Five eco-friendly alternatives that are probably already in your cupboard to rid your home of germs and bacteria!

White vinegar--Vinegar is great at removing stains, dissolving mineral deposits and grease, removing soap and wax buildup, polishing some metals, and deodorizing almost every room in your house.

Baking soda--It can neutralize acid, scrub shiny material without scratching, unclog and clear drains, extinguish grease fires, and remove certain stains. It can also be used to deodorize your refrigerator, carpets and upholstery.

Lemon juice--A natural odor-eater and it can be used to clean glass and remove stains from aluminum, copper, clothing and porcelain, and nothing works better on Formica surfaces.

Table salt--Great at removing rust! Mixed with lemon juice, it can clean copper; mixed with vinegar, it can polish brass.

Essential oils--Essential oils can eat up odors from cooking, mold, mildew, airborne microorganisms and other everyday pollutants that enter the home.

As someone who depends on public transport to travel within the Klang Valley, I have often been left frustrated by the inefficiency of the system--never arrive on time or even cancelled and coaches are packed during peak hours.

Why would anyone think of driving if there's a better way? It’s pointless taking public transport if you are burdened with long delays...

From a different point of view, taking public transport have "benefits" too! It helps a person develop his/her patience to an ultimate stage as you'll need to wait for a "standard" 15-45 minutes (I've waited for more than two and a half hours, seriously!). When it finally arrives, you'll get to see a grand view of "doorguards" blocking the entrance and they're so cool; they just don't care! If you're "lucky" enough someone will help you in by pushing you from behind. You can have fun joining and being a human 'sardine' on board-- it improves balacing skills, especially when you have nothing to hold on to when the train moves or stops. Of course, you can enjoy free "sauna" service when the air-conditioning is not working.

Very often, you will hear people shouting "Excuse me/Sorry/Full-house, next train please!!!". Today, I heard something new... a "pakcik" shouted "Orang belum keluar, you all sudah masuk... macam mana nak keluar ni? Terbang keluar ke?"

Grapefruit
Eating half a grapefruit before a meal can actually help people drop weight. As an added benefit, grapefruit contains cancer-fighting compounds like liminoids and lycopene, and red grapefruit has been shown to help lower triglycerides. And half a grapefruit has only 39 calories.

Sardines
Sardines are loaded with protein, which helps stabilize blood sugar, makes you feel full and helps stimulate metabolism. Secondly, they're a great source of omega-3s, which not only strengthen the cardiovascular system but also are helpful in boosting mood. Third, because they're very low on the food chain, they're remarkably free of contaminants.

Grass-Fed Beef
Protein stimulates metabolism, helps you feel full longer and helps decrease the desire to overeat. Grass-fed beef has a high omega-3 content, giving you multiple health benefits into the bargain.

Green Tea
This natural weight-loss stimulant might not be a food, but green tea is still a great slimming solution, not to mention that it's rich in antioxidants, promotes heart health, aids digestion and regulates blood sugar and body temperature. It raises the metabolic rate and speeds up fat oxidation. As an added benefit, the theanine in green tea is also a great natural de-stressor.

A hiccup is an involuntary spasm of the diaphragm; typically this repeats several times a minute. The sudden rush of air into the lungs causes the epiglottis to close and cause the "hic" sound. There are some home remedies such as breathing into a bag or have someone to scare you... claim to shorten the duration.

I found this alternative method "A Finger Up The Bum Cures Hiccups" but I'd rather hiccups generally resolves itself without intervention.

I borrowed this DVD from my colleague a few weeks ago. Attempted to watch it as soon as I get it but I couldn't get the audio & language setting right at first so I tried to play it on another DVD player this afternoon and it works! Poltergeist is a supernatural horror film from Steven Spielberg who teamed with director Tobe Hopper.

A great movie full of odd paranormal scenes caused by upset vengeful souls and how the Freelings reclaim their family and escape safely.

Chocolate contains essential trace elements and nutrients such as iron, calcium and potassium, and vitamins A, B1, C, D, and E

Cocoa is also the highest natural source for Magnesium. Magnesium deficiency is linked with hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, joint problems and pre-menstrual tension (PMT or PMS).

Plain dark chocolate products containing a minimum 70% or more cocoa solids are the healthiest and the best way to satisfy a craving for chocolate, without consuming too much sugar and saturated fat or HVO.

The Pasta-Chocolate Diet (Fad Diets)

The Chocolate Diet is a decreased calorie diet that focuses on the consumption of liquid chocolate diet shakes as a snack. Besides Chocolate it also includes pasta and popcorn. This sounds like the tastiest diet ever. Each day is the same, you have to use different lowfat pasta sauces and different varieties of fruits to make it less monotonous.

The Pasta-Chocolate Diet basically focuses on Pastas (spaghetti, rigatoni, elbow noodles, shells, linguini, fettuccine), Pasta sauces (low-fat, low sodium, non-meat, but could contain occasional skinless white meat pieces); Salads w/low-calorie, fat-free dressings (No croutons); Vegetables; Fresh fruit; Popcorn (air-popped, no butter or salt); Alternate toppings include non-fat butter substitutes, vegetable seasonings, garlic powder, soy sauce, vinegar, cayenne, or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese; Chocolate (1 ounce); and Water (2 quarts per day).

The following items are to be avoided while on the Pasta-Popcorn-Chocolate Diet: Alcoholic beverages, Salt, Sugars (artificial sweeteners are okay), Oils, Oily fruits (avocados, olives, coconuts), High sugar fruits (raisins, figs, dates), Fried foods, Dairy products, Red meats, Nuts and seeds, and unauthorized snacks (chips, junk food, candies, cakes, pies, etc).

Green Tea is the well-known “wonder drug” known to give its drinkers a host of health benefits.

Lowers the Risk of Cancer - Green Tea polyphenols are potent antioxidants, far more potent in suppressing free radicals than vitamins C or E.

Lowers Cholesterol - Green Tea has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol and serum triglyceride levels. The potent antioxidant effects of green tea inhibit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol in the arteries. It plays a major contributory role in the formation of atherosclerosis.

Lowers Blood Pressure - Blocks the effects of angiotension-converting enzyme (ACE), an enzyme secreted by the kidneys, which is a significant cause of hypertension. By blocking the effects of ACE, blood pressure is reduced significantly, and with it, the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Prevents Tooth Decay - Tea has been shown to inhibit Streptococcus mutans, a major bacteria involved with decay. Tea also has been shown to have a positive effect in fighting gum disease.

Inhibits Viruses - Lower blood sugar levels. It can also kill certain bacterias and is effective against staph. Green tea inhibits several viruses including viral hepatitis. Green tea, via catechins and theaflavins and its gallates, have shown antibacterial properties.
